Ipanema Park fue abierto por primera vez en 1987 siendo destino de muchas familias para sus vacaciones durante 25 años, ahora está siendo reformado para renovar sus instalaciones y ofrecer a sus clientes un mejor servicio. Su reapertura se espera para finales de Octubre de 2012, y desde ahora ha sido bautizado como Marina Bayview.

Ipanema Park first opened its doors in 1987 and ever since it has been a chosen destination for many families for their family holiday. Currently the complex is under renovation, as we decided it was time to renovate the apartments and offer better quality and service to our guests.  We are expecting to re-open its doors late October 2012 under the new name ‘Marina Bayview’.

Para el nuevo Marina Bayview, hemos apostado por el diseño y los detalles, haciendo grandes cambios tanto en el interior de los apartamentos como en las zonas comunes, pero sin perder la esencia que este complejo ha tenido durante años.

For the new Marina Bayview we have opted for a new design and new facilities, thus making great changes both inside the apartments and common areas, but without losing the essence which this complex has had for years.

Les podemos adelantar que en el interior de los apartamentos el mobiliario será totalmente nuevo, y  con ventanas más amplias para favorecer tanto al entrada de luz, como para poder disfrutar mejor de las increíbles vistas.

 We can anticipate that in the interior furnishings of the apartments will be completely new, larger windows to allow more light in and to better views.

¡Nunca se han preguntado! ¿Cómo se han formado las dunas de Maspalomas? Las Dunas de Maspalomas tienen una larga historia y les diremos cómo se formaron y su evolución a lo largo de la historia. Las Dunas de Maspalomas es  una zona unos 4 km de largo. Que se encuentra entre la Playa del Inglés y los complejos de Maspalomas.

You have probably walked along the unique Dunes of Maspalomas and wondered how they were formed? Or just curious to know their history.  These dunes have a long history and here we will tell you how they were formed and their evolution throughout history. The Dunes of Maspalomas is a domain of sand, 4 km long. The Dunes are located between the Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas resorts.

Algunas personas piensan que estas dunas se han formado, gracias a la arena que  llega a la isla junto con el viento del Sahara. Otros que se ha formado gracias al Tsunami de 1755, pero hay documentos que muestran que las dunas estaban antes de ese suceso.

Many believe that the Dunes where formed from by sand being blown from The Sahara desert, but in fact this is not the case. Some also assume that the dunes where formed by a tsunami in 1755, but there are maps of the dunes in the area before the tsunami; therefore the dunes existed before the tsunami occurred. Although the tsunami probably did play a role in helping the dunes exist to this day.

Realmente estas Dunas se han formado mediante sedimentos marinos, es decir organismos de mar triturados. La zona en la que se encuentran las dunas, hace miles de años era la desembocadura  de diferentes barrancos que arrastraban abundantes sedimentos formando una llanura aluvial en la actual Charca.

The dunes where in fact formed by sea   sediments; crushed sea organisms.  The area in which the dunes are located was formed by gullies which provided water supply to the Lagoon, which in turn with the passing of time formed an alluvial plain.

Luego una glaciación que hizo bajar el nivel del mar, dejó al descubierto sedimentos que cerraron el cauce formando terrazas fluviales a diferentes niveles. Luego hubo una des glaciación, subiendo de nuevo el nivel del mar. Los sedimentos que quedaron en la costa y luego arrastrados por el viento, formaron la arena.

The sea level then dropped several time due to the glaciations forming many fluvial flats. The sea levels also increased at some stage and the ocean tides hauled its sea sediments to shore. The sediments where then later swept away by the wind to make a pile of sand behind the Traganum moquini plant,   which became the first dune.

Para la formación exacta de las Dunas, la planta Traganum Moquini ayudó mucho, ya que la arena se acumula detrás de la planta creciendo gracias a los sedimentos, y al llegar al tamaño de la planta se desplaza con el viento formando la duna. Las dunas se encuentran en constante cambio debido al viento del nordeste que traslada la arena entre 2 y 5 metros hacia el oeste cada año.

The dunes at the moment are currently   constantly shifting due to the constant north-east wind which shifts the sand between 2 to 5 meters to the west every year.

Movimiento de las Dunes/Movement of the Dunes.

Esta área se declaró como Área Natural   Protegida de Interés Nacional en 1987 y llevó mucho esfuerzo preservar y restaurar el ecosistema. En 1994, el área fue clasificada como Reserva Natural Especial.

This area was stated as Natural Protected Area of National Interest in 1987 and numerous of efforts where carried out in order to preserve and restore its ecosystem. In 1994,  the area  was categorised  as Special Natural Reserve.
